Pigmento Painting & Decorating Ltd Case Study
Pigmento was started in back in 2009 by Lorenz Paterau and for many years worked with a small team carrying out external and internal decorating jobs for residents and estate agents as well as schools, offices and shops. Their turnover was around £400,000. They joined the Hammersmith & Fulham Supply Chain programme in 2018 attending workshops and Meet the Buyer events. In early 2019 we introduced them to the repair and maintenance manager at Romulus, a major Hammersmith & Fulham property group owning some 70 properties in the borough. Subsequently they were taken on by Romulus to carry out some minor painting and decorating works of common parts in two of their buildings.
Gradually Romulus started using them more and more on increasingly large redecorating jobs and they became the group’s go to decorator for most of their properties including ones outside the borough like Wimbledon Shopping Centre. Romulus have even given them office space within one of their buildings, Brittania House.
The experience with Romulus gave Pigmento the confidence to take on much larger jobs such as the external redecoration of the London Business School in Regents Park in 2021, a £300,000 contract for the main contractor Stamford Contracts with a team of 15 decorators. Their turnover is now around £1 million and 80% of their work is commercial. Through one of their clients, they do the periodic redecorating of all Gails Bakery and Joe and the Juice outlets. They continue to work for a number of schools in Chiswick, Richmond and Harrow.
They are now working with the H&F Local Supplier Support Project to add Constructionline to their accreditation and to support them to start tendering for some of the main contractor opportunities in the borough generated through s106 and social value local procurement commitments.
We also hope to get them taken on by Westfield London since they have carried out painting and decorating works for Massimo Dutti, Zara, Kurt Geiger, Steve Madden, Kiehl’s and are well used to working at night.
