The Public sector represents a massive market spending nearly £300 billion a year on goods and services. There’s a common misconception that only big businesses can compete for public sector contracts. This is not the case anymore. In fact, the UK Government spends nearly 30% of its budget on small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and there is a big drive for public sector organisations to actively award more contracts to SMEs.
What businesses is this workshop for?
This is a standalone workshop for any company in the construction or related sectors which wants to get into more formal tendering for public sector or larger private sector projects and access the huge markets they represent.
What do you get from Workshop 3?
It will demystify the world of public sector tendering with its online portals, frameworks and DPS’ and explain the new Procurement Act which is designed to benefit small businesses and make access to opportunities easier.
It will outline how PQQs and SSQs enable private sector as well as public purchasers to assess the organisation's commercial, technical, environmental and financial competencies and determine whether they meet the minimum criteria of the contract. Live examples of on line tenders will be used to illustrate the process.
We will be examining the key policies and procedures that you need to have in place as well as accreditations that are preferred by buyers. We will advise on where opportunities are advertised.
We will have the Lead officer from Hammersmith & Fulham’s Procurement team who will explain the Council’s approach to local procurement and opportunities that are coming up. We will have representatives from a major private sector buyer to explain their processes for ‘on boarding’ to their supply chain
Free one-to-one tendering support
For those attending we are offering free one to one support to help you get you through a particular tender that you decide to bid for.
