Preparing your business for the Green Construction Revolution
Date: 17th November
Time: 9.00am- 12.00pm
There is a big drive now, led by the Government and Public sector bodies to reduce carbon emissions and costs through retrofitting domestic and non-domestic buildings. To meet the target of EPC B by 2030 set by the Mayor of London and London Councils, a huge increase in retrofitting activity is required which could generate over £100 billion for the London economy. Private landlords too are having to upgrade the energy efficiency of their buildings in order to meet the minimum energy performance levels required for letting them out to tenants. This is creating new supply opportunities across the UK as well as on your doorstep. Hammersmith & Fulham Council, for example, is on an ambitious journey to reach carbon net zero by 2030 in respect of all its buildings. They urgently need more SMEs with the right skills to take on, EPC surveys, insulation (lofts, floors and walls), window replacement, LED lighting installations, solar panels and heat pumps etc.
At this event you will hear from LBHF Council's Corporate Properties Facilities Management team with an annual budget of £14-20m, on how it is tackling the task of retrofitting local schools, leisure centres and community buildings in Hammersmith & Fulham, what are the forthcoming procurement opportunities for local companies and how to access them.
You will also hear from RetrofitWorks, a co-operative of construction companies and community advocates that is actively engaged in this type of work all over London. They can give a first hand account of the type of opportunities arising and the entry level skills and accreditation required and how you can get on their books.
There will be a networking session and opportunities to meet the speakers as well.
